The American School of Valencia is a PreK-12 co-educational, non-profit, parent owned school, offering American style education to children of the local and international communities of Valencia. The school was founded in 1980 by a group of civic and business leaders determined to have an American international school in Valencia.

Today the school serves approximately 728 students, a small percentage of which is from more than 20 countries. These students receive an American college-preparatory curriculum that combines at the higher grades with the Spanish curriculum to prepare students for the Spanish universities admission exams. English is the principal language of instruction, supplemented with at least one-hour daily of Spanish.

ASV is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is fully recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education, thereby qualifying its graduates for entrance to American, Spanish and other universities throughout the world. In addition, ASV is affiliated to the Association for the Advancement of International Education, the European Council of International Schools and the Mediterranean Association of International Schools.
